In our fast paced lives, we shuttle from one commitment to another without any thought. Time is of utmost importance, in our race for everything material. Even billionaires, men who can seemingly buy anything they want, can’t buy time.
We readily give away our old clothes, and other items, even writing cheques for charity. But we seldom part with our most prized possession, time. We selfishly hold onto time, utilizing it only where we see profit. When we do feel an urge to do something charitable, we simply drop a note, into one of those donation boxes. Why? Simply because it’s easier.
While people at the receiving end of charity, may accept anything material that you may give them, what they will truly appreciate and cherish however, is your presence. Take some time off from your busy schedules, show these people that you care by paying them a visit. Orphans or the elderly often lack company and a sense of belonging. Talk to them, get to know them. Putting a smile on their face will make you truly happy. While it may sound clichéd, yes, it can make you happier than your new car or house ever could.
While going to these places may seem like a daunting task, one visit will surely win you over, and keep you going back.
